While local cuisine uses the whole plant, Rainforest Foods Maca root powder is made of the fused root and hypocotyl (lower stem), where nutrients are concentrated. Rainforest Foods Maca is a mix of red, yellow, purple and black roots. It is grown organically in Peru using traditional techniques and has a long growing period of up to eight months. After harvesting, it is slowly air dried before being milled to a powder.

subtle caramel flavour
I use this in smoothies and love it! As you dont need much, it has lasted me a long time.
This is really good. Add it to banana bread or any bread when baking, it adds a beautiful caramel flavour. Probably don't put it in porridge? Or if you do, put it in as you're cooking it. Maca is delicious when incorporated properly.
I cant eat this stuff. It ruined my porridge. It has an earthy taste which makes me wretch. Even a teaspoon in water is vile. Bad buy. I will just eat carrots and parsnips in future if I want roots.
Return of the Maca
