Outstanding and characterful
This is an outstanding lighter roast coffee. It is 'naturally processed', lending a slightly 'fermented' or 'mango-like' quality to the flavour which may or may not be to your taste but is well worth a try. I find this coffee wonderfully sweet, fruity, complex, and full-bodied. It makes an intriguing V60 filter coffee with many layers of flavour, but really shines as a characterful espresso which is unlike anything you will be served in a cafe!
Good Natural/Dry processed beans
Yes, it's higher in acidity, but African coffee tends to be higher in acidity than South American. So this should be no surprise. It's dry/natural processed so needs a lighter roast for its complexity to show through. So this is not an espresso coffee but more of a drip/pour over coffee to show it's best. It does show some of those enticing natural processed flavours and also that umami edge to it. For this price it's a steal and whilst a good 'cup' I'd like to see it with even more funk. Buy if you are open minded about coffee.
Superb
The best Ethiopian coffee bean on the market today!
Interesting...
...but the predominant flavour note for me was soy sauce! On the nose and palette. I thought it was well balanced and not too acidic as other people have commented, but just too savoury for me.
NOT suitable for Espresso Machines
This is a good price for Ethiopian Beans and if ground correctly and used for Pour Over Coffee (I tried both V60 Filter & Aeropress) this produces an OK if unremarkable & thin brew with some characteristic Ethiopian fruity / citrus notes. Unfortunately both the roast and flavour profile are all wrong for Espresso - it produces a thin and acrid / acidic brew which quickly tips into real unpleasantness if you up dosage or increase brew time in an attempt to extract more flavour. It should not be marketed as suitable for all coffee machine types.
Far too acidic
As the previous reviewer said, it is a lot more acidic than the bag states. Sadly we couldn't drink, and it put me off to choose this brand again.
