Product information

A truly ‘craft’ non-alcoholic IPA from the Dutch brewer vandeStreek Brouwerij. It manages to have a minimal taste variation from the regular version.

Playground is brewed using five types of American hops including Mosaic, Citra and Cascade. The low alcohol is achieved by using a very unique yeast and specially installed brewing equipment.  IBU 50

Amber in colour with a persistent lacy head. Plenty of vibrant citrus and tropical aromas and flavours as well as strong hop bitterness and a lasting finish. Hop-forward and forceful US style IPA with no discernible lack of character from the missing alcohol.

Shockingly good

I was sceptical, but wow, this is great. Lovely hoppy flavours. I'll definitely buy again.

Hard to tell it's alcohol free

Ocado have some fantastic alcohol free beers now and this is one of the best. Tastes like a usual IPA. Lots of fruity flavours and just the right bitterness

A decent low alcohol beer

I've been trying a few low alcohol and alcohol free beers lately, in an effort to find a drink interesting enough for me to have on days when I may wish to abstain from alcohol. Most of the drinks I've tried so far have reminded me of all the reasons why I haven't tried low alcohol or alcohol free beers in a long time. However, this drink was at least what I would describe as a decent low alcohol beer, and a decent IPA low alcohol beer at that. It has the bitterness and mouthfeel of an IPA, a nice amber colour, and a little haziness. The bitterness in particular is what I think makes this drink interesting enough for it to potentially serve me as an alternative to an alcoholic beer, in that, it's a drink I could imagine savouring, as opposed to the many soft drink like zero or low alcohol drinks out there currently masquerading as beers. This is a real beer, in that, not only is its ingredients list limited to what would actually go into a real IPA, but I personally, would consider it a real beer, because of its taste. My respect to this brewery, for making a good low alcohol beer, and with a pretty can and a lovely playful name to boot! Quite an appropriate name I think, as, back in the day, when we were on the playground, we would manage to have fun without alcohol, even though that was because ignorance is bliss!

wow! I cant believe it

Been trying loads of these low alcohol beers and this actually tastes like beer. Theyve really cracked the bitter / citrus / hops with no wheat or extra sugar. Would drink anytime haha!

Not alcohol free

This meets the European definition of alcohol free (0.5% alcohol) but not the United Kingdom definition of alcohol free (0.05% alcohol). Which means it is suitable for drivers and people who want to cut down on alcohol but it is not suitable for people in Recovery or who have an alcohol sensitivity. Which is a shame because it tastes fantastic. Ocado shouldnt have it in the alcohol free category though as were under UK, not European law.
