Product information

What do you get when you combine a beautiful sunny Mediterranean climate with one of the most isolated countries in the world? Chile, a vine grower's paradise.
At Veramonte, we believe in preserving this paradise. So we are careful to be as sustainable as possible in the winery and we farm all of our vines organically. No nasty chemicals in our vineyards or our wines.
The fruit for this organic Carmenere, Chile's emblematic variety, is grown on our estate in the renowned area of Marchigüe, in the Colchagua Valley. We carefully pick and vinify the grapes, and then age the wine for 8 months in oak barrels, resulting in this expressive, rich, and velvety Carmenere.

Tasting Notes
An elegant fusion of soft plum, blackberry and rosemary notes with hints of pepper are finely woven into a lingering finish
History
A warm season for the Colchagua Valley, with lower yields than a normal year, giving way to great concentration and structure. As a result, we obtained terrific fruit and intensity of flavors, especially for Carmenere.
Regional Information
Set between the coastal mountain range and the Pacific Ocean, our Marchigüe vineyard is located just 45 kilometers from the coast in one of the coolest sections of the Colchagua Valley. Given its maritime influence, temperatures are moderate in summer with cool nights. Characterized by its rolling hills, the unique soils in our vineyard are mainly decomposed granite and red clay.

Vinification Details
After destemming, the grapes are cold macerated for five days in open top stainless steel tanks and fermented with native yeasts. After primary fermentation, the wine is macerated with its skin for another ten days to achieve greater smoothness and intensity of flavors. Finally, the wine is racked to neutral oak barrels and aged for 8 months.

interesting and complex

I'm reviewing this product because I received a free sample from Ocado. Out of the red wines I have tried I found this complex with its flavours and more interesting than usual. It was appreciated by all. I normally cook with red wine, but this felt a little too special to use like that.

easy drinking

We received a free sample from Ocado to review. It was consumed with a steak and chips and slipped down a treat. Probably wouldnt buy regularly as I am a bit of a skinflint.
