Ingredients
- 1 pint whole milk
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 400g M&S Soft White Farmhouse Bread (approx. 8 slices)
- 50g unsalted butter, very soft
- 50g caster sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 150g sultanas
- 2 tbsp icing sugar, to dust
- 300ml single cream
Method
Step 1
Heat the oven to 180°C/ 160°C fan/ gas 4. In a small pan, whisk the milk with the cinnamon and heat until steaming, then remove from the heat. Set aside.Step 2
Meanwhile, spread each slice of bread generously with butter and then cut the slices into rough squares/rectangles.Step 3
Whisk the sugar and eggs together in a bowl until combined, then slowly pour in the warm milk, whisking as you pour to combine.Step 4
Layer the bread into a lightly buttered baking dish (about 18x25cm), scattering the sultanas between the layers. Pour over the custard and bake for 30 mins or until puffed up and golden brown.Step 5
Serve dusted with icing sugar and cream on the side.
