Tasting Notes
This wine, aged in Bourbon barrels has attractive smoky notes to the nose and palate with lasting impressions of richly flavoured vanilla, dried herbs and a hint of caramel
History
Years ago, when I was just starting out as a winemaker, it was almost unheard of to get French oak wine barrels and American oak barrels, were for whisky, not wine. But we still needed barrels to age our wine, so we purchased new and used Bourbon barrels. Today American and French oak wine barrels are commonplace, so the inspiration for 1000 Stories is a nod to the way things were.' - Winemaker Bob Blue

Vinification Details
Individual lots for this intriguing wine began the ageing process in traditional American and French oak barrels before being introduced to new Bourbon barrels. The characteristic char from these sought-after vessels imparted attractive smoky notes to the nose and palate, where the lasting impression is a richly flavoured vanilla, dried herbs and a hint of caramel.

Pretty Heavy

Surprised to say the least, this is a lovey full bodied red but wow, its quite heavy and not that smooth, so i would indulge this with caution, it needs decanting! 'Lots' of oak at first, only after will you pick up the caramel, after that 2 hour period it will develop, the taste really shines, still heavy but smoother, benefits from letting this breathe a good while.

Beautiful

I bought just one bottle of this to try, after reading all the reviews. My usual favourite is the McManis Petit Syrah and I didn't think I'd find anything that came close, but this wine is absolutely gorgeous. It's smooth, quite fruity yet not too sweet. Light yet full of flavour. It's just beautiful and oh so easy to polish off the whole bottle.

Highly recommended

Several of my friends told me about this wine, it was Ally who bought me a bottle to try, we have very similar taste, I loved it from the first taste, its smooth and warming, and yes its good with a steak its even nicer with chocolate. A rich deep colour, vanilla and toasty aroma. Caution one glass is never enough. On a wet and dark Saturday evening wrapped up in a fluffy blanket try this, it lifts the spirits and the wine glasses. Cheers !

A trusty regular

For the price it beats all Zinfandels that I have sampled, over many years, hands down.

its ok but not special

We bought this wine with great expectations. Its a very regular wine and a bit overpriced for what it is. Smooth to drink but not particularly exciting
