Banfi
Castello Banfi was founded in 1978 by the Mariani family, Italian-Americans who had been involved in wine importing and distribution since 1919. The Castello Banfi estate is the largest contiguous vineyard in Europe and includes land in Tuscany and Piedmont. Despite its size the estate is not a mono-culture with one third planted to vines, one third to olive groves, fruit trees and other crops and the remaining third woodland.

Tasting Notes
This wine is fresh and intensely fruity on the nose. Exotic fruits and spices with underlying tones of Mediterranean wood are revealed. In the mouth the wine is full with soft structure that is enlivened by a rich acidity.

summer in a bottle
I've been a bit mystified about why it's taken this country so long to catch on to vermentino. Ocado now seem to be stocking a few options and this is the best I've tried. Lovely, full flavour. Will hold up well as a food wine, but also good on its own. Reminds me of happy times in Italy
