History
Barefoot Wine started up in California in the 1960s. Its founders believed that wine should be more fun and less serious and created a wine that could be enjoyed by everyone, from first-time wine drinkers to hard-core aficionados
Regional Information
About 100 kilometres from San Francisco and sitting at the foot of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, California's Central Valley produces Chardonnay fruit of outstanding quality. Consistently favourable weather conditions create a growing season in which the grapes enjoy plenty of hang time. Not only does this region enjoy the benefits of the natural protection and favourable microclimate provided by the Sierra Nevada's, but its soil is also rich in minerals.

Vinification Details
The grapes for Barefoot Chardonnay were harvested at optimum ripeness, which allowed for easy extraction of rich colour and velvety tannins. The winemaker selected aromatic yeast strains and employed a warm fermentation process, which has resulted in a wine with more flavour and fruitier aromatics. Proper storage after fermentation has helped to build complexity on the palate and bring a nice balance to the wine.

Tastes like a classic Chardonnay

This wine reminds me of how Chardonnay tasted years ago when I first discovered it. If you like that 'classic' taste, too then you should definitely give it a try!

classic 90s style buttery Chardonnay

Smooth enjoyable homage to the buttery craze of yester years. Think must have been a bad batch reading a few of the reviews... doesn't sound anything like my experience of the wine. Had this recently and very enjoyable. PS I like very dry wines too like a fair few Sauv Blancs so depends what type of whites you prefer.

disappointing

Horrible. The type of white wine that put me off drinking white for years. like cheap white wine or cheap cider. Not nice with any food. Cooking wine at best.

NEVER NEVER

Never tasted a “ wine “ so unpleasant Never poured a bottle of wine down the sink. I have always preferred Chardonnay even when it was unfashionable , ABC, some good , some not so. .

A regular in my trolley

I like this when I'm in the mood for a slightly sweeter Chardonnay. It's very easy drinking and very good value. I always keep a bottle or two in my fridge. Don't offer to anyone who likes Sauvignon Blanc though - they will hate it!
