Good one
One of the best.
Favourite
This is our favourite Chinese 5 spice. Everyone in the family loves it.
Outstanding
I always have this in the house. I use it for a quick Chinese style stir fry but its also got the perfect mix of spices to make a Katsu Curry: one teaspoon of five spice mixed with one teaspoon of curry powder added to any veg you have plus tofu, garlic & a little chilli powder & you gave a perfect Katsu Curry.
Easy flavour boost
An easy way to inject flavour in Chinese dishes and easier than having to buy packs of all the different spices. I like the Bart Jars. Wider than other brands so easy to get a spoon and has a both a sprinkler lid and an open lid depending on how much you wish to use. I make a quick stir fry sauce using 1/2tsp of this, 1 tsp of soy sauce, 2 tbsp of ketchup and pineapple juice to loosen. Would be better if this was organic like a lot of the rest of the Bart range.
great product
This is a great product necessary for Chinese cooking. Very strong flavours. But why is Ocado at least 15p more than other retailers?
Almost ideal
Agree with another reviewer that the cloves are a tiny bit strong, and a little bit more ginger or some pepper would be nice for a bit more heat. I don't know what the reviewer below is on about with "completely different recipe" - the only difference from a traiditional mix is ginger instead of sichuan pepper. Maybe they are unaware that Cassia is chinese cinnamon ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
