Inedible
This is absolutely inedible. £10 of chicken gone in the bin it's that bad. What's worse, doesn't taste anything like any massman I have ever had. Can only think the measurements on the usage recipe instructions are incorrect? If so, shame on you Ocado!
Do not buy!
I usually don’t bother to leave reviews but feel morally obliged to tell other customers that this is not at all good. Doesn’t remotely resemble a massaman curry paste. Even the inauthentic Blue Dragon version available on Ocado is better. What a waste of ingredients!
Really unappetising bland sauce
Makes an unappetising brown curry that was pretty flavourless. Nothing like a proper massaman
Medicine
Bought this because of some of the good reviews. Used beef, added this paste some garlic and coconut milk. On trying it I got the distinct flavour of old fashioned cough linctus. ( mad I know). Anyhow I had nothing else in so served it up. My husband complained that it was tasteless and I ate mine thinking and tasting cough medicine all the way through. I still had the taste in my mouth the next day so needless to say the rest of it’s going in the bin. Can,t recommend this one. Very unpleasant.
great with Tofu
I have had this in my cupboard for quite a while without knowing what protein I can put with it.. I bit the bullet and cooked it up with some tofu and added potatoes, lime leaves, coconut cream, no salt veg stock, thyme and some brown sugar and it was delicious. Cant believe I waited so long to try it because now I can think up other things to put with it! Would recommend especially if you are trying to be experimental, will buy again
Delish!
Sorry Massaman purists but we use this to make a satay style curry - adding garlic, coconut milk and a couple of teaspoons of chunky peanut butter! Scrumptious. Makes a great quick meaty curry with chicken or beef, or a veggie curry with roasted aubergine, courgette, peppers etc! Very versatile.
