Tasting Notes
Aromas of freshly baked blueberry pie. Layers of dark, dense fruit evokes bubbly blueberries while toasted and vanilla notes deliver hints of flaky crust. A dash of spice subtly accents the plush, lingering mouthfeel.
History
Inspired by the brave souls of the Bear Flag Revolt, we celebrate the kindred spirits who stand their ground, have the good taste to dream big and never waste a drop. Bear Flag Wine embodies the intrepid, rebellious and independent spirit of California, where anything is possible. Winemaker, and Sonoma County native, Aaron Piotter harnesses the wild, untamed Zinfandel vines the region is known for and crafts a bold wine, full of unrelenting flavor.
Regional Information
We sourced our fruit from select, premier vineyards within Sonoma County. When blended, each terroir adds a unique layer of flavor and creates a memorable style. In 2017, record winter rainfall replenished the soil followed by a temperate spring and bud break came as expected. In September, impressive heat hastened harvest, but subsequent cool weather restored maturation to a more gradual pace.

Vinification Details
Our Zinfandel underwent an initial two-day cold soak to extract the deep color and complex berry aromatics from the skins. We fermented the grapes for 5 to 7 days, targeting 85 degrees to perfectly extract the tannins required for a round and smooth texture. The Dry Creek Valley and northern Sonoma Valley comprise the majority of our vineyard sites, both being renowned for growing Zinfandel.

Lovely wine - needs to breathe for best results
Tried this as it was on offer. Its lovely. Needed a good few hours to breathe and mellow after opening, but well worth the wait. Rich, deep, well balanced flavours. Happy times!
