Love this
My regular buy!
Very nice
Good quality black rice and a good price for the quanity.
Nice for a change!
Very tasty! It takes longer than regular rice but it's very nice!
Delicious \- recommended
This rice has a nutty flavour and slightly chewy consistency. First had it at a friend's house - Nigella recipe with prawns and a light Vietnamese dressing, google it, it's a simple tasty mid-week supper. Since then it's a regular for us. We like it hot, cold, on it's own or dressed and part of a recipe. It is very versatile, you can make dessert with it too. It does take longer to cook but good things come to those who wait. I've cooked it in the pressure cooker and the microwave. I've read that it should not be rinsed and it's high in anti-oxidants. I do one cup of rice two of cold water then cook for 16-18 mins on high and leave it to absorb any left over liquid. There are tons of views on how to cook it on the web you will find what works for you. Recommended.
Takes absolutely ages to cook
Like another reviewer I think it careless of Belazu not to include a cooking time on the packet. Perhaps they don't want to scare you off, because in the end the answer is ages! I have cooked wild rice and Camargue red rice so I am familiar with tougher grains that can take maybe half an hour to cook, but this is ridiculous. 50 minutes at least before it is edible. And because the makers say it is a cross with a risotto rice I made the mistake of trying to make a risotto with it - DON'T! After an hour and a half (by when everything else in the risotto was ruined anyway) it had not even begun to fall. I am sorry but I just think this takes far too long to cook to be practical.
