Brand
Bollinger is one of the few remaining independent family owned Champagne houses. Since 1829, this moderately small house has worked tirelessly to acquire the finest vineyard sites, now totalling 163 ha, to guarantee the highest quality wine. The Champagne region of France lies approx 100 miles East of Paris. The chalky soil in this cool northerly climate creates a unique terroir for the Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier grapes. First fermentation takes place in Stainless Steel tanks. After blending, bottling and second fermentation the Special Cuvée will rest for a minimum of three years on its lees to allow the aromatic complexity to fully develop. “Bollinger Special Cuvee. Cool, delicate briochey nose. Nice, rich fruit with honeyed undertones, reserve wine richness and texture. Complex, classy.” Antony Rose, Decanter, January 2008.

Tastes like a cheap Chardonnay
I normally drink Laurent Perrier Rosé or Champagne Laurent-Perrier la Cuvée. I unfortunately bought this on offer and purchased 6 bottles but cannot bring myself to drink them. It was too rich, yellow and not bubbly. I dont expect that from a champagne. There were no fine bubbles or light and crisp taste. A bottle of Louis Roederer or Veuve Cliquot (which says something)would of been preferred. It is very overpowering and left me turning my noise up and trying to disguise my displeasure on the first sip.
Always good always a reliable taste
Unusual compared with many champagnes. If you like holly try Louis rodderer or Laurent Perrier. Rick stein also does a good blanc d blanc which is a fair imitation Bolly is expensive and worth it. I bulk buy when on offer either here or Waitrose.
Misleading ProMotion
Unfortunately Ocado has let me down with an unacceptable explanation and solution. I ordered 8 bottles of Bollinger at £56 each less 25%. This should have rendered each bottle at £42 still expensive but at least less than £56 each! The promotion says a limit of 18 bottles per customer. it does not state in. Multiples of 6 i.e. 6/12/18. I ordered 8 and was charged 6 @ £42 and 2 @ £56! It doesnt end there the receipt states 8 @ £45.50??? Misleading or what it should state 6 @ £42 and 2 @ £56. I was contacted by an agent who has said he will arrange collection of the 2 bottles!!! Really the inconvenience, the misleading representation - I am expecting a refund of £112 who would pay that much for fizz anyway!! I will wait and see ? Added to which Ocado have given me a 3 hour slot and no confirmation. Shame as so far Ocado has been outstanding with quality and service!
not the best
Much prefer veuve clicquot
There are better champagnes for the price
Bollinger is a reliably well rounded champagne. However, for the price there are much better alternatives out there.
False advertising
Not in the 007 box as advertised - of course the champagne is delicious but overpriced and false advertising
