History
Cape Mentelle is one of Margaret River's ‘founding five' wineries established by wine industry pioneer David Hohnen (of Cloudy Bay fame) and his brothers Mark and Giles in 1970. Starting small with just 16ha of vines, David experimented with grape varieties including Shiraz, Cabernet, Zinfandel, Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon. Many of these original plantings are the source of the distinctive wines that have come to characterise Cape Mentelle. Today, the winery is a benchmark for quality in Margaret River.
Regional Information
Margaret River is one of the most isolated wine regions in the world and is located in Western Australia. The region benefits from a Mediterranean climate, with warm summers cooled by afternoon sea breezes and mild winters, making it ideal for growing top-quality grapes.

Vinification Details
The wine underwent cool fermentation in stainless steel using a selected yeast to accentuate fresh fruity varietal characteristics. Individual batches rested on lees for 2 months. Once assembled, the final blend was minimally fined and filtered before being estate bottled.

Not special. Chalky, a bit dead - disappointed.

Like Billy Eilish before the Vogue cover. Should be lovely but somehow isnt. Better to be had elsewhere and not what was hoped for.

Vibrant, fresh, lovely Sauvignon.

I’m reviewing this product because I got a free sample from Ocado. I was so pleased to be offered the chance to review this as I am strictly a Sauvignon blanc drinker. Served chilled it was a fruity, fresh and vibrant wine, which I thoroughly enjoyed and would definitely recommend. My only hesitation would be the price point as it’s higher than other great Sauvignons.

Nice but pricy

I was given this to review and find it nice and very easy to drink. Think I'll only buy it for special occasion as it's more than what I'd normally spend on wine.
