Carex Original Antibacterial Handwash Refill 500ml
£1.90
38p per 100mlProduct information
Carex Dermacare Original Hand Wash is now available in an easy and convenient 500ml eco refill pouch. The antibacterial liquid hand soap kills 99.9% of bacteria and features our Dermacare formula. The formula actively enhances the skins natural pH, the natural moisturisers help leave skin feeling soft and smooth, and the gentle cleansers effectively remove dirt and germs.
The eco pouch uses 75% less plastic (based on plastic weight per g compared with 2 x 250ml Carex bottles) so you can reuse your existing Carex bottle and pump, helping to reduce plastic consumption. Did you know that you can get 10,000 pumps from your Carex pump? That means it will keep going for around a year. Refill your hand wash bottle and recycle the refill pouch with Terracycle.
The eco liquid soap refill pouches are ideal for either refilling your own hand soap dispensers or standard Carex bottles.

The best
My favourite hand soap. Nice fragrance.
Cannot recycle
You used to be able to recycle Carex refills via Terracycle. Carex removed themselves from the programme (and haven't updated their website) so now these pouches have to go into landfill. Awful
Near impossible to recycle
If you happen to live near a recycling location for Terracycle, maybe these are worthwhile, but for those of us who don't (and I live in *London* and it'd take me an hour each way to get to one on public transport), this option just causes waste to pile up. Wonder what the environmental impact of millions of consumers making extra car trips to inconvenient recycling locations is relative to what they manage to recycle.
Too drying
I bought this to refill a Waitrose Antibac Handwash pump bottle. I find it lathers okay, but is very drying on my hands, I have to use moisturiser afterwards. Also now seeing previous reviews on recycling only confirms I will not buy again.
Not widely recyclable
As others have stated, the normal bottle/pumps are widely recyclable. These "refills" which claim to help the environment have to be recycled with the "terracycle" programme (https://www.terracycle.com/en-GB/brigades/carex-uk). There are no spots in London to drop off their packaging (only spots outside of London seem to be in schools). This makes the system completely useless and shows they are just trying to get extra money claiming they care about the environment.
Easy to use
Very easy to refill a used bottle, the puch is resealable so youc an keep it until the bottle is empty again. Also good to see the pouch can now be recycled through Terracycle, unfortunately there isn't anywhere close to me that will accept it but sill better than buying two new bottles and pumps
