Quality
Not the Greatest of Quality in the World. Had and found better at less known brands.
Incorrect cooking instructions. Rice with a bite.
Definitely a different type of rice. Does not cook in 20mins as it says on the package. Becomes edible after 30-40 minutes cooking time but always stays with a bite to it and does not soak up water like normal rice. May be good for some dishes if that's what you are looking for.
Absolutely gorgeous!
The negative reviews are very unfair and misleading. This is absolutely gorgeous! It has a delicious fragrant, nutty flavour and perfect texture – it stays “al dente” and does not clump together in a stodgy soggy mass. The flavour and texture are exquisite, and if you cook it for a bit longer it makes beautiful risottos. Plus, it is organic, nutritious and Italian, not from the other side of the world. Wholegrain brown rice is meant to stay firm "al dente" and always takes longer to cook - that's the point of wholegrain brown rice! Another winner from Daylesford!
whats wrong with this rice?
I bought as organic, cooked for 1 hour and as hard as you get it from the package. Will never buy again.
I normally love daylesford stuff but this is awful
Takes FOREVER to cook & never seems to get to the appropriate level of softness brown rice should. I love daylesford products & am usually more than willing to pay their quite hefty price tag, but never again for this. Cheaper brands such as Waitrose own are much better.
Chalky - would not cook
Used in a Jambalaya recipe. Boiled for 25 minutes, simmered away for at least another 30 mins, this rice was still hard and chalky. Unlike any brown rice I've ever cooked with in the past. Completely ruined the meal.
