Convenient, not much else
I hadn't eaten Fray Bentos in years. I probably got it as it flashed up as an offer. I don't particularly want to but need to eat more convenience food as I simply haven't the energy to cook. This is definitely convenient but I wouldn't buy it again. Some of the pastry was very soggy and the filling had a metallic, processed flavour to it. To be fair the minced beef and onion one tastes better. I wouldn't rush to buy again but they can be handy to have in the cupboard.Only worth it if you buy them on offer of 2 for £4 - def not worth the individual price. You really do need a v sturdy can opener btw!
love it
Not a nice as the steak and kidney But the pastry is just as crispy and slimy a perfect combination Its the bit just under the top that hits the nostalgic student days button right on the head with a mallet Not every week obviously But every now and then its a true guilty pleasure Haters gonna hate But Ive got a Frey bentos on my plate
Very poor
I may have received this as a free sample from Ocado, but it had a very long shelf life so I'm not sure. Luckily I have suitable can openers. I baked according to instructions. The pastry appeared to rise but only the top few layers were cooked, the rest was an unappetising soggy mess. Only enough filling for one portion.
Just about ok
Have had this in the cupboard for ages, always remembered them being nice enough. There isn't much chicken and the sauce is really basic but with plenty of salt and pepper it made a filling meal that was OK. Will get another as it's good enough for a lazy night.
Where is the chicken?
I had no problem opening the tin and, once cooked, the pastry was nice, but there was hardly any chicken in the pie
yuk
