Our Frei Brothers Sonoma Reserve Dry Creek Valley Merlot offers velvety smooth, fullbodied style with flavorful ripe fruit notes and complex structure. Layered notes of plum,
dark cherry, blackberry and blackcurrant are accented on the richly textured palate by hints
of mocha, black pepper and roasted spiced nuts. Barrel aging adds subtle touches of
nutmeg, vanilla and toasted oak on the long, supple finish.

Regional Information
The 2019 growing season in Dry Creek Valley started with record rainfall followed by a cool spring. In summer,
cool conditions continued, creating the long, slow growing conditions perfect for grapes to
develop maturity and complexity. Harvest started in August, yielding fruit with exceptional
quality, optimal acidity and bright fruit characteristics.

Vinification Details
After a two-day cold soak, this Merlot was fermented in temperature-regulated tanks and
gravity fed to press or pressed early, allowing for more controlled fermentation, extraction
and improved mouthfeel. The wine was fermented at a maximum temperature of 92°F to
increase extraction of color and flavor. Select lots were aged in a combination of 7% new
and 93% neutral French and American oak barrels. All lots were aged for 10 months before
blending and bottling.

Lovely wine, what you’d expect from Sonoma. Hope they start carrying the Cabernet, even better.
