Delicious but misleading name
There are whole dried strawberries - I bought for my toddler thinking they would be sliced and then dried so was a bit worried about them being a choking hazard. They do crunch very easily though and he seems to manage fine. They are extremely yummy and moreish!
Changed Supplier
I am changing my 5 star review on this. I have bulk bought these from Ocado and The Giving Tree website directly since 2020 and although they were expensive they were healthy and delicious and meant I could eat strawberries all year round. They used to be large and sweet with a crisp texture reminiscent of honeycomb. I just adored them and averaged a bag every day or two, which worked out very expensive but worth the money for the quality. Over the last three months, every bag has been dreadful, the strawberries are now small, wizen looking things with much less flavour and a texture you could break your teeth on. I've looked up the business online and it seems to have changed hands recently and I can only assume that they have changed supplier as the strawberries now bear no resemblance to the strawberries of 2023 and before. I am beyond disappointed that one of my favourite products has been destroyed, in what I can only imagine is a profit based decision. I had continued to buy them even though every bag was awful in the hope that it was just a bad batch and they would return to the quality of old but after 3 months of throwing my money away I will no longer buy these any more.
Had to throw away five
These are expensive but the ones that were ok were great, I used them in a strawberry cake and they tasted really good. However, so many had holes that make me think either they’d been pecked by a bird or had something wriggly living in them, others looked like they were black and mouldy in places and it’s put me off buying these again.
Delish alone or on cereal
Really lovely and sweet. Have these instead of a piece of chocolate! Also, I break them up a bit and add to cereal or granola. They work even better than fresh strawberries for cereals. Lovely intense taste, even the crumbs are great!
Expensive
Absolutely delicious snack. Insanely expensive for a tiny portion, so l buy them elsewhere now
Great for puds and bakes
I recently got this as my daughter wanted a strawberry cake and part of the recipe required freeze dried strawberries I had no idea they would be so tricky to find in a supermarket! They are really tasty - very intense strawberry taste, as you would expect. I used them to blend into a fine powder to mix in with buttercream and OHMYGOODNESS, possibly the best buttercream Ive ever had! My only reason for deducting a star is because the packaging isnt eco friendly, which bothers me personally, however I dont have any other options at the moment (short of not making strawberry flavoured things in this way, or freeze drying myself, of course!). Enjoy.
