Monkfish is a very versatile fish that holds its shape when cooked. It has a firm meaty texture and holds flavours well. These monk medallions are perfect for a curry for a mid-week treat or breaded for some monk scampi. Landed into all South West harbours.

Keep refrigerated below 5oC. Once opened consume within 24 hours. Suitable for freezing. Freeze on day of purchase and use within one month. Do not refreeze once defrosted

Preparation and Usage

Place your monk in seasoned flour, then beaten egg and finally into breadcrumbs mixed with rosemary, lemon zest, turmeric and black pepper. Fry in a hot pan with oil until the breadcrumbs are golden brown and the monk internal temperaure reaches 75degreesC. Serve with a chipotle mayo. Alternatively fry for a few minutes in a hot pan with some oil and serve with a chilli dip. May contain bones.

Smells rancid!!

I bought 2 packs of this monkfish last week and froze on day of delivery. had another pack delivered yesterday. planned a monkfish curry for tonights dinner but as soon as I opened the packs, there was an overwhelming smell of rotting flesh - it was really bad! I can see from previous reviews that this has been the case for others too. I bought on flash sale but still cost £13.50 for the 3 packs!!!

Smelt awful. Opened on day of purchase and the smell was so bad we had to throw away. Will never buy again.

really lovely and meaty

I bought in flash sale and then so scared to open after reading the reviews as they were very off putting. I googled and its very common to have the wrigglers mentioned. Fishmongers do their best to remove. I had frozen them so any would have died but I didnt see any when I rinsed them before cooking. Cooked them in a lovely garlic wine lemon and parsley butter with prawns and some broccoli with truffle oil and yuzu. Really meaty and yummy. It was a delicious low carb meal!
