not for me
I was sent this free to review. I wouldnt normally buy Chardonnay as my white wine of choice. The smell was unpleasant and even after letting it breathe I still couldnt get over the aroma. The taste was just ok, which is not enough for me to spend £20 on. Sister and brother liked it, but not for me.
A lovely drop
Sent this for review. Im usually not a great fan of Chardonnay too oaky too heavy. After opening this my heart sank the first aroma was oaky, in fact I would say it smelt of an old oak barrel! But my initial fears were to be unfounded. This wine is light slightly green with a hint of vanilla and a very smooth finish. Im actually totally smitten and so is my husband. I would definitely recommend, first night we had it with a Japanese curry which it worked well with and then the next night enjoyed it by its self
Beautiful Chardonnay
If you like Chardonnay, I think you’ll love this New Zealand Chardonnay from the Isabel Estate. Wines have got an awful lot more expensive lately, and I wouldn’t have selected this one at £20, I tend to stick to those I know I like rather than risk wasting money. But because I received this from ocado for review, I was lucky enough to try it for free. And now I’ll be buying it again! It has that distinctive Chardonnay aroma and taste, and I love the mineral notes to it. It starts off fresh and acidic then the warmer, fruitier and very slightly oaky vanilla notes kick in. It’s not too light, it has some intensity. We enjoy it on its own but also I think it would go well with chicken, fish, pork or a lovely veggie dish. I would recommend it - and I do like supporting a small vineyard run on sustainable lines like this one.
divided opinions
We received this Chardonnay from Ocado to review. I wouldnt normally choose this wine and was hoping to enjoy it, but I really disliked it. My husband thought it was a nice, non-acidic, drinkable wine but felt it was too expensive for every day drinking.
Classic Chardonnay
I’m reviewing this product because I got a free sample from Ocado. This is a classic Chardonnay at a fair price, you cannot go wrong with it.
Really Not For Me
I received this to review and Im not a big Chardonnay drinker but have recently enjoyed some more premium Chardonnays. However this one is really not for me! Its incredibly strong and oaky, and I couldnt drink it. Only buy if you love an oaky Chardonnay.
