Tasting Notes
Notes of juicy blackcurrant and blackberry are balanced by savoury hints of dried herbs and attractive earthy notes. The palate delivers generous red and blackcurrant fruit, with liquorice, tobacco and savoury oak overtones. Soft, silky tannins round out this harmonious and moreish wine.

Wine has been flowing in the Clare Valley since 1851 and is an integral part of the culture. It is one of Australias most prestigious premium wine regions, most famous for its Rielsing and Shiraz. A small area, accounting for less than 1.5% of Australai's total wine production

Vinification Details
All harvesting decisions were based on tasting the fruit in the vineyard. The grapes were crushed and destemmed before fermentation in stainless steel fermenters with heading down boards, which submerge the skins in the fermenting must. This moderates the temperature of the fermenting skins or 'cap' while gently extracting colour, flavour and tannins. Pump-overs were conducted twice per day with a rack and return taking place daily during the early stages. Fermentation lasted seven to 10 days before being pressed. Malolactic conversion took place in tank before the wine was racked to French oak for 12 months' maturation.

Smooth and easy drinking

Ocado sent me a free sample of this wine in exchange for my review. I found it surprisingly smooth and light considering it's quite strong. I won't tell you all the fruits and spices I imagine it tastes of, for I am a simple man. Nonetheless, even I can identify a touch of oak in there. It's a solid 4.5 stars from me, but my wife really liked it, so I've topped up the rating to 5. I doubt I'd buy it for the usual £14 asking price, but would consider it when on offer nearer a tenner, as it was around the time I received my free bottle.

Lovely wine, a little strong

Received a sample from Ocado to review. I wouldn't usually select an Australian wine as I tend to favour those from Italy but I shared this bottle with my husband and we both enjoyed it. At full price this is more than I would usually pay but I would buy again if on offer.

Enjoyed with roast beef

I’m reviewing this product because I got a free sample from Ocado. We had this with some rare roast beef - full bodied and hearty. Good for an Australian wine in this price range.

Very enjoyable

I am reviewing this wine as I got a free sample from Ocado. I really enjoyed this wine, I found it quite smooth and a medium tasting, fruity red. It goes well with red meat. Although it has quite a high alcohol content, I would not hold this against it! Would I buy it again? Possibly not at full price as there are other equally delicious reasonably priced reds out there. However, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it when it comes on offer.

Not my choice

I am reviewing this product because I got a free sample from Ocado. I found this a bit shallow. I generally opt for white wine in preference to red, but there are plenty of reds that I enjoy. This is not one that I will buy again. Plenty of tannin, and hints of tobacco, but not much in the way of fruit. We found it better on the second day, so maybe would have benefitted from being allowed to breath a bit more when first opened.
