Amazing
I love this pie, and thanks to another reviewer I have been enjoying the leftovers cold, scoffing bits out of the fridge when peckish! looks and tastes homemade (but better than I would do!)
Delicious!
this pie is packed full of filling with generous chunks of tender meat in flavoursum gravy. the pastry is fantastic! I've cooked this in the air fryer and the pastry was beautifully crisp. no soggy anything! in reply to critics of not enough gravy/not enough meat - I would say the balance is spot on. if you want this as a dinner covered with gravy of course add more! but the pie itself has enough in my opinion . and of course more gravy would mean less meat and possibly soggy gravy. of course, more meat is always appealing but to me this pie has it just right. Additionally, the ale is not a prominent flavour note, which for me is a repeat purchase deal breaker - booze in food is a big turn off for me!
Dry
Bought on a flash sale and would not recommend even at a discounted price. The filling was incredibly dry and the pastry not very short or buttery - also like cardboard. Would possibly be OK with lashings of gravy.
Almost meatless steak pie
Flavourless. There was practically no meat only full of thickened gravy. No taste of ale. The blandest steak and ale pie I have eaten in decades. The pastry looked good but lacking taste and salt resulted in a disappointed palate. A complete waste of money. I threw most of it away.
Amazing pie!!
Absolutely delicious, great flavour, really packed with good quality beef. An absolute favourite and will buy again
Nice meat but not enough gravy.
Good pie, bought with voucher and wouldn't recommend unless bought this way, way too expensive otherwise. The pie was ok, meat was plentiful, not all tender, some bits chewy. Had to add gravy as it was so dry. I actually ate the left over slice cold and it was much better, so would make a lovely picnic pie served cold, no gravy so it didn't make a mess.
