Too sweet
Sugar??? Not sure this should be called biltong when it is full of sugar. Either way, it tastes awful and I wouldn't buy it again.
Divine with wine!
I do not buy biltong as a low fat protein snack so these are perfect for us. Also I like the small pack as it gets polished off and then there's no risk of it drying out which I often find happens with large bags of biltong.
Nice flavour, too chewy
Really lovely taste, but I found the pieces of beef a bit too hard and chewy.
Hit or miss
This product can be hit or miss unfortunately. When good it's very succulent albeit quite fatty with a strong beefy taste and a nice tender chew although in this state it doesn't remind me of biltong much. When bad it's dry and stringy you chew for ages and have to spit bits out but more like traditional biltong so not sure which is the intended product. Never know what you'll get until you open the packet though which is a shame.
Fatty, salty and expensivebut oh so good!
So if youre a gym bunny who likes Biltong as a high protein, low fat snack this might not for you as it is quite high in fat (as the packaging honestly explains). But if you like Biltong for the flavour you have to try this- it is literally the best Biltong Ive tasted (like most, but not all, Biltong sold on Ocado it is seasoned with vinegar among other things - I actually hate vinegar but you cant really taste it here, probably used more to tenderise). It is delicious!
Tender and moist but ...
I had high hopes but hadn't looked at the ingredients. I'll try any biltong having been a fan all my life. Extremely tender meat, moist and salty - all to my liking. Unfortunately I've never had biltong with vinegar as an ingredient. I found the flavour overbearing and forced myself to finish the pack. Some people may enjoy it, but I can't recommend it. If the vinegar were to be omitted I'd be a repeat customer. Perhaps the manufacturer might make a traditional biltong in the future.
