Message to the thoughtless, ignorant moaners...
The reason olive oil is getting so expensive (apart from the ridiculously ineffectual sanctions put on Russia) is due to drought that wrecked much of the olive harvest. This was followed by torrential rain, which trashed yet more of the crop & then disease set in. So, nobody is laughing at your expense, nobody is ripping you off and whilst you think you're suffering due to the price increase, there are olive farmers whose families have been growing olives for generations that are losing everything they worked for, their entire livelihood. You think it's expensive now, you ain't seen nothing yet.
Spout is a blessing and a curse
We use olive oil regularly and this is ny far my favourite. I do love the fact that it is has a spout, so it's good for pouring in a measured way and drizzling. As it's not virgin, I tend to use the olive oil for cooking - anything from pancakes, to vegetables and Indian food. We use Al.ost everyday. My only gripe is that the spout has a pop-up/spring mechanism. Often as I'm opening the lid, the spring forces the lid off with enough force that it goes flying. Its quite comic (especially when it happens to an unsuspecting family member or guest!) but on a couple of occasions we really had to look for the lid.. if I need the oil regularly during cooking e.g. making pancakes, I tend to keep the lid off (and lose it that way!), but I put up with it bc I love the oil and the control that the spout gives me. Like other reviewers, I also note that price of olive oil is ridiculously high at the moment but prices are fluctuating a lot so haven't factored this in my rating - hoping prices settle back down and stabilise.
Great oil but double the price
This is a great oil but doubled in price in the last year making it unaffordable unless on offer which it looks like the olive oils rarely are now.
Far too expensive now
This has been a regular in my weekly shopping but not any more at the ridiculously priced £11.80!!!
Best Olive Oil but not when £3 more than Tescos
This is fabulous Olive Oil, the best Ive tried, but I cannot justify this price. Especially when you can buy it elsewhere for £3 less. Come on Ocado what are you doing with your prices!!
helpful pourer but pricey
This oil is lovely but pricey.
