Virtually Sugarfree
What on earth has happened to cakes? Bought one of these as a treat, and it is almost completely devoid of any sweetness whatsoever. Nothing wrong with it otherwise, but there is absolutely no sweetness. I'm going to have to go back to making my own.
Nothing wrong with this cake
Not overly sweet and delicious! Good amount of cream and the sponge is soft, light and crumbly . Yes, the apple does have a bite to it, but for me that wasnt a deal breaker. I quite like the slight crunch and the apple is not sour at all. For a cake bought from a supermarket its good. I would definitely buy again for afternoon tea.
Very poor
My husband and I have previously enjoyed M&S bramley apple cream sponge cake for many years, and in the past it was a large soft, moist sponge with well-cooked apple and real whipped cream. Unfortunately, the one I purchased recently was much smaller, flat and solid, not a sponge, the apple was not cooked sufficiently, and the cream was obviously not real. It also had a very unpleasant taste. As with a number of other M&S current products, I will not buy this again.

The cake was difficult to remove from the box when cut it disintegrated before it could be placed on a plate you are unable to eat a slice straight from the cut it has to be placed on a plate and eaten with a spoon apple pieces crunchy cream a bit synthetic

The apple is a little hard for my liking. I would prefer it slightly softer/more cooked. Its not too sweet though and despite what it says on the box it seems to freeze well so I slice it and freeze.

Absolutely delicious! The sponge is so soft and moist with the apple and cream filling adding to the flavour.
