cork disintegrated
As someone else has mentioned, this port is extremely difficult to open. It is sealed with a cork, but you cant use a corkscrew because there is a plastic lid thing on top of the cork. I spent ages trying very carefully to get into it but the cork was rotten the plastic top parted company from the browned and disintegrating cork and the rest of the cork fell to bits into the port. I sieved a glass to try it and it actually tastes very good but as I dont have a decanter the rest is now cork-tasting and undrinkable. As other reviews are good I may have been unlucky but the cork + plastic lid is a very odd arrangement and difficult to open even if the cork wasn't rotten. To their credit Ocado refunded me very quickly. I had actually bought the port as a gift but decided to - erm - test it out to make sure it tasted ok! So I'm glad I did.
Excellent LBV
I like LBV and this is a great example. Value at £17, but really super at £12. Decanter like it too. Looking forwards to trying their tawny.
Could not open the top
Had bought this for Christmas, had a stressful day yesterday so decided it would be nice to have some since nearing Christmas now. Given already had a stressful day and this was to be part of my relaxing, winding down from that stress, was even more stressed not being able to open the top!!!! M&S please note females drink Port too, should not need to have extra strong arm muscles to be able to open this bottle! I appreciate that there are very strong ladies that would perhaps have been able to, however none were with me, and probably also there will most likely be men that like me would not be able to open it either. I tried for a long time and kept going back to the kitchen at each TV ad break to have another attempt. Both of my hands were red and hurt, bottle still not open. Gave up and opened my Christmas day Prosecco instead.
Just good and ordinary Port
Nice and woody with a sweet finish - great for the money
Surprised how good it was
My husband always has a couple of bottles of port for his cheeseboard and really enjoyed having a change. I shall certainly buy another one with the change of seasons need a bottle for cooking etc. Very good value for money.
