worst pork pie EVER
I'm old. I've eaten many pork pies. This was THE WORST... EVER. The meat was unseasoned and FULL of long strips of gristle that had to be spat out. There was virtually no jelly, and the tiny amount present had no flavour. The upper pastry was soggy like wet cardboard. The base (which is normally my favourite part) contained too little fat so it was soft, where it SHOULD HAVE BEEN hard, crisp with lard, and bursting with lush flavour. But again, there was zero flavour. I had no option but to throw it away.
Good
Flash sale buy which came with a good use by date.Husband did comment on the lack of jelly but said he still really enjoyed it.Good size and quality so would buy again.
Where Is The Jelly?
Better than most supermarket pork pies. The well spiced pork mixture was already going grey when it was first cut open, This is because of the air spaces that should have been filled with Aspic jelly, which is what protects the pork from going off, but at least there was some jelly and the pastry was mostly edible.
pork pie
Upset my stomach after one slice threw rest in bin say no more
Delicious
Great quality pork pie - delicious.
Delicious!
My husband loves these! Crisp crusty pastry, tasty meat filling with just the right level of seasoning, perfect amount of jelly. The meat filling and crusty pastry is better than the small version. Make your own judgement - do not be deterred by negative reviews which, in our opinion, are unfair and misleading.
