Not haggis
This contains no lamb. It can't be haggis.
Gristle!
This haggis had a good flavour and just about the right amount of seasoning, but unfortunately there was a lot of gristle in it. I have never had a gristly haggis before and I certainly won't be ordering this again.
Enjoyed this!
I love haggis. I thought this was great. I microwaved a chunk for myself in a covered dish, and it was perfect with neeps and tatties. Buying more now for the freezer so I can make Balmoral chicken soon!
Not Haggis
This is not Haggis. It's made with pork, not lamb, and doesn't taste as good. To simply call it "Scottish Haggis" with no warning that it's a different product is a disgrace
First class
An excellent Haggis; no lamb needed, the flavour and taste of the pork is perfect.
The worst Haggis I have tried in 40 years
I bought this product in good faith. One because it is sold under the M&S name and two because it is produced by Macsween a traditional Scottish company who usually make top of the range Haggis. I have been married to a Scot for 35 years and he always celebrates Burns Night by eating Haggis. Over those 35 years I have ate many different types of Haggis, this is the worst one I have ever ate. Haggis is supposed to contain Lamb and this does not. It had a very bland taste but the worst thing about it was after cooking it according to the instructions, i.e. wrap in foil, place in a baking tin and put about 5cms of water in the tin then cook for one hour and 20 minutes, topping up the water if needed, when I took the Haggis out and started to unwrap it there was a thick Yellow sludge leaking from it. I now realise this is because the Haggis contains 25% Beef Fat. My husband has had a bad stomach for the last two days and swears he will never eat Haggis again. Both Macsween's and M&S should be thoroughly ashamed to be selling such a low standard product. I will never buy a Macsween's product again after this and will be very wary about purchasing food from M&S who I have always considered to be a high standard food company.
