Enjoyable
I have been buying this hake for a few weeks. I make sure that I cook it on the day it is delivered. I pan fry it. We have found it to be delicious. The first batch we got was really fresh tasting and the others have been delicious, although not as fresh tasting. That being said, it tastes a whole lot fresher than the hake and chips one gets in restaurants. The portions are really small, so we each have 2 pieces, ie. one package each. I have never experienced the fishy smell that others report. Hope I never do as then it will be the end of our Friday hake meal.
No flavor and full of bones
I LOVE hake and its distinctive taste. Ive had four or five packs of these now and they never have any flavor and are always full of bones to spit out. Had to force myself to get through the last packs I ordered as I didnt want to waste them. I was happy to reach the end of them and go back to the lidl pack which have flavor without bones. (waitrose is the best but they dont seem to stock it where I live now which is a shame). I definitely will never buy the M&S ones again even on flash sale. May have got unlucky (several times!) with the bones but the fish literally tastes of nothing.. what a disappointment.. If youre looking for a bland fish that doesnt taste like hake then youve found it here.
very nice fish
Have ordered twice and both times been really good.
hmmm
Very soft when cooked but no real taste to it. Size ok. I had 4 large bones on my fillet. Bought as a flash sale, but wont be buying it again
Beautiful Alternative to Cod
Must say this was bought on a flash sale just to try something different, I'm so glad I did it was beautiful. pan fried with a little knob of butter served with new potatoes and green beans, it was so nice. Similar in flavour to cod. This is something I would purchase at full price. Lost a star due to the fillets differing so much in size.
Absolutely delicious
Succulent flakey fish thats melts in your mouth like butter! Beautiful!!
