Make them in a pan
Cant understand why people make them in a microwave, just need a good non stick pan put them on a low heat stir occasionally and they come out lovely and creamy.
dont follow instructions,
Never used these oats before but I just did 4 test batches. 2 following instructions on hob and in microwave and both were terrible. Super chewy oats etc so for the 3rd test I stuck em in my rice cooker following rice cooker manual instructions, although this took 1.5 hours to cook, they were amazing. So thats why I am giving it 5 stars. Next test i did was stick in rice cooker again just before bed with with a delayed timer so its ready when i wake up and again, the texture and consistency was on par with M&S fresh porridge/oatmeal that you can buy in Ocado.
quality changed
Have bought these oats for years to make porridge in the microwave in the same way and always the same lovely results - creamy porridge with some bite. But the current batch just won't soften or cook! Liquid all over the microwave, and hard oats that haven't cooked. And we have 2 bags from the special offer! Maybe the second one will be back to normal
excellent oats
Great for porridge, if using for overnight oats they need to soak for longer as lovely big oats
Healthier, tastier swap
Swapped to jumbo oats from sachets of milled oats for a healthier choice. Initially I couldnt get them to cook on the hob or microwave. However, my stubbornness won the day and these are perfect in my 800W microwave as follows: 45g oats with 200ml skimmed milk on MEDIUM power for 1 min 30 secs, stir, cook 1 min, stir then cook another 30 secs or to suit you. Chuck your blueberries in to plump up and allow to stand for a 1 min or more then voila!, PERFECT creamy porridge with a topping of mixed seeds. Thank you Mornfake & Ocado.
no bueno
oats dont soak up the water/milk like others do
