One day, Nature's magic turns the juice of grapes into the wines of Bordeaux and its various appellations. The next step is to taste the young wines and decide which ones make the best match. It is a joyful yet solemn moment, for the result will be Mouton Cadet.
Created by Baron Philippe de Rothschild in the 1970's, Mouton Cadet white is a blend of wines from several appellations in the Bordeaux region, planted with classic grape varieties (Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon and Muscadelle) on exclusively selected parcels of our partners' vineyards. It is an elegant and well-balanced wine.

Tasting Notes
The nose displays perfect balance between fresh fruit and acidulated notes such as lemon. A round and fresh attack with an initial touch of lemon is followed by boxwood and grapefruit flavours which linger on a fresh finish of considerable refinement.
History
In 1930 Baron Philippe had the idea of creating a younger brother for Mouton Rothschild, using grapes grown on the same terroir. As the younger son (Cadet) in his own family, he named the wine Mouton Cadet, and the brand was born.
Regional Information
Predominantly clay-limestone soil, ideal for all white grape varieties. Limestone gives the wine a mineral freshness, while clay soil brings out the fruit and the typical Sauvignon flavours.

Vinification Details
Mouton Cadet Blanc is made from rigorously selected grapes grown by our partner wine-growers in the Entre-Deux-Mers, the best area for white grape varieties in the Bordeaux region. Baron Philippe de Rothschild's winemakers monitor the selected parcels throughout the vegetation cycle, advising the growers on vineyard practices in order to meet the exacting quality standards of Mouton Cadet.
