Bread flour
I mix this with the same brand Strong white flour, 750 grams White and 250 grams Brown. It always makes the most wonderful chewy bread. I make a big batch into teacakes and freeze them. We thaw them as needed and then they are always fresh
good value
I purchased this flour when my usual brand was out of stock! I use part wholemeal, part white when making bread in my bread maker and this was perfect!
Doughy bread
After trying some more expensive M&S wholemeal bread flours I thought I'd try this less expensive alternative. Unfortunately the loaves that I used it to make all turned out with an unpleasant doughy texture. I wouldn't buy this flour again and have returned to the more expensive ones I had used previously, which have made much nicer loaves.
Good value
Lovely flavour, although a little heavy so replacing 100g with white bread flour gets a better rise.
Loaves failed to rise properly and were heavy
Experienced similar problem to another reviewer. But with a different batch. Suggests this flour is cheap for a reason. Wouldn't re-buy, despite the price.
Low gluten in a bad flour batch bread didn't rise
I'd been buying this flour for several years and all of my loaves turned out fine. However I recently bought three bags of flour with an expiry date of 26 May 2022, code 17:33 GWE1330 and every wholemeal loaf was disaster in my Panasonic breadmaker. Low gluten in this batch of flour produced rock hard flat loaves that did not rise. I nearly threw away my breadmaker but tried very strong Canadian flour and the loaf rose fine. I don't know if it's just one bad batch of flour, but it's odd that there is only one other review on here. It looks like Ocado must have changed the flour and created a new listing for the flour.
