Mixed up tacos that kids loved
Kids enjoyed and I like adding the salad and salsa together with the mince to mix everything up before filling, good to make sure lots of salad gets in and not left on the plate. Quick and easy to make. I found pockets a little hard to shape, but that was my fault for slightly over cooking. Will buy again
Best eaten with salad fillings
I am reviewing this product as I was sent a free sample from ocado. I tried these with a filling of taco meat unfortunately they leaked out of the bottom. Nice taste but better used with a drier filling and salad. I do prefer the crispy taco shells.
Mince \- goooood. Chunky \- meh.
I was given this product in exchange for a fair and honest review. (Sorry Ocado that it took so long!). Flavours in the seasoning and salsa were tasty - as I expect from Old El Paso. I had mixed results using the pockets themselves. Minced beef chilli - great! Guacamole & sour cream - good. No leaks out the bottom & I’d defo use again like this. Filling them with anything bigger though, like chicken, lettuce etc. didn’t go well as the warm pockets were a bit floppy, collapsing as I was trying to stuff the filling down. The pockets got cold whilst doing that and eating them did not go well either - a messy business out the top.
Convenient
I can see this would be very convenient and a useful product to have in. It didn't really work for me because I prefer my own salsa and the spice blend was too hot for someone who is chilli-sensitive. It was obvious that the cone was going to collapse, so I made a long cut in it and the filling could overflow and be arranged properly. So for me, a packet of wraps would work better. It made a tasty lunch filled with home-roasted Mediterranean vegetables, avocado and the M&S cottage cheese with prawns pot. I added chilli jam separately. For that mainly uncooked filling, there was nothing to mix the spices with and I didn't fancy raw spices. It was a sample to try and on reflection I wouldn't purchase this particular box.
Interesting concept
I am reviewing this item because I received one free to review, very interesting concept. I would try it again, I used with cooked beef, and my gravy was pouring out of the sides, I would try it again with salad. The price is reasonable to buy as well.
Nice
I was sent the pockets free to try and leave a review. They are easy to make and the end results were tasty. Great to have in the cupboard to make a quick snack.
