Exquisite, glorious!
These are glorious! They have a beautiful deep vibrant purple colour and an exquisite, intense full flavour with a perfect balance of sweetness and sharpness - the depth of flavour and colour is exceptional. These are wild blueberries (bilberries) from remote forests with no agricultural intervention and about four times higher in antioxidants than cultivated organic blueberries, therefore they are smaller and blue inside instead of white/green. With reference to reviews about needing cooking, I have eaten these raw daily for many years and never cook them, as I prefer to run the very slight risk of Hepatitis A/Norovirus (as they are wild) in order to preserve the vitamins and nutrients which are destroyed by heat. Perfect added to cereals, muesli, and porridge and glorious as a dessert with sliced banana and Cocos Organic Coconut Yoghurt. I equally love Picard Organic Raspberries - both are outstanding in every respect. Another winner from Picard!
sour bilberries
Not a good alternative to blueberries. Incredibly sour and teeny tiny fruits.
beautiful berries
Brought these as wanted organic frozen berries and they were on offer. Used them to make homemade blueberry sourdough bagels. The colour was amazing. Great tasting and will be using them in more things, yes they are small, but that wasnt a concern for me. Will definately be purchasing again.
Picard organic blueberries
I wouldn't buy these again as I didn't realise they need to be cooked beforehand and wanted them for smoothies, I will bake with them this time but make sure I buy ones that don't need boiling
proper wild blueberries
Wild blueberries have blue flesh like these ones, cultivated ones, even if organic are white inside and dont have same intense colour or flavour as these. Great find, please keep supplying them Ocado!
Picard Organic Wild Blueberries
Thought they were Bilberries but dont be put off I personally think they have a lot more flavour than Blueberries, use to go picking wild Bilberries way back with my gran didnt half bring back memories. Please keep stocking them as I will keep buying them.
