100% Sauvignon Blanc from the Loire Valley, France.


Touraine is a wine producing area at the very heart of France’s Loire Valley, extending alongside the Loire river itself for approximately 60 miles.


Harvested from 20 year old wines within a family run estate, Premiere Touraine is a perfect example of the elegant and fruity white wines for which the Loire is well known.


From it’s zesty gooseberry nose to the citrus, lime flavour on the palate this Touraine is crisp and clean, with well balanced, refreshing acidity.


Enjoy chilled on its own, or perfect to accompany a rustic board of smoked meats, cheese and bread.

A very new world style with aromas of fresh grapefruit, intense nettle, just sliced green peppers and a hint of honey.
History
You will be familiar with the archetypal Touraine Sauvignon produced by Jean-Luc Mardon at his small estate near Oisly in The Loire.
Regional Information
Vineyards are on sandy soils on clay subsoil. Vines are 20 years old, planted at 6600 plants / ha.
Vinification Details
Harvested at optimal maturity (analysis and tasting of grapes), grapes are fed into a pneumatic press. 20-25% will be macerated, depending on the characteristics of the vintage. This is followed by static settling for 12 to 24h. Fermentation is slow at 18 °C for three weeks in stainless steel vats.

Simply unexceptional...not worth drinking...

I was anticipating lovely clean, green gooseberry, grass and herbaceous notes on the nose and palate - with refreshing acidity. It was just quite blah and untypical of its provenance. Sad to say some of it was simply wasted (which I hate to do). At least it was on offer when purchased but I shall avoid in the future.
