Preparation and Usage
As our krauts are not pasteurised, they continuously ferment. Because of this, we need to allow our krauts to ‘breathe', we use a special lid that allows the gasses that are produced throughout the fermentation cycle to escape freely without allowing any air to enter the jar.
1. You'll need to lever up the flexible metal ‘teeth' on the lid. Simply take a teaspoon and wedge it under the teeth and lift up - do this in a few points around the jar.
2. Then grab one of the free edges and peel the lid off and voila!
3. To reseal the lid, all you need to do is pop the lid back on and give the teeth a little squeeze to secure.

interesting lid, ehh flavour
i've never experienced a lid like the one on this jar, not sure what to make of it. i've never had sauerkraut before and the smell puts me off - i think i prefer kimchi as a source of fermented goodness.
Tasteless
Maybe I am a Sauerkraut heathen and eating more kimchi, but this is very bland. I eat for the health benefits rather than enjoyment, so treat like a medicinal food.
Good taste, glass jar.
Its the best if you dont want the work of home made.
Best commercial sauerkraut
This is head and shoulders above the other chilled cabinet commercial sauerkrauts - many of which are also really good - but there is something finer about this one, about the crunchiness and the perfect acidity. This is a very fine product. And as for complaints about the lid... yeah, it's perhaps a bit tricky first time around, and you need to approach it with the right tools, but once you've got it sorted, you're left with a fantastic sized reusable container and lid...

The product was ok but I ended up ruining my silverware trying to get it open!
Ridiculous packaging
The lid is hard to remove, despite following instructions, and doesn't go back on properly. I had to store mine in a plastic bag. I buy live sauerkraut regularly and other producers manage with normal lids which allow you to open, close and reuse the jar. Product itself was OK, but not special. Not recommended.
