Absolutely disgusting
I should have known better than to use a packet mix but I was lured in by the convenience. What a mistake. It was vile. I made it up as per instructions and it tasked bland and artificial. I tried to save it by adding some red wine and extras but it was still awful. What a waste of good ingredients - wont make the same mistake again!
Chicken in red wine
These powder mixes lack sufficient flour to thicken properly. Not flavoursome enough - probably needs two packets & real red wine. If you have wine at home & a reasonable range of dried herbs you'd do better wiithout the packet & the mix doesn't really save time.
Really tasty
We really enjoyed this one. Added the mushrooms and bacon as per the recipe and found it made a nice sauce. We cooked with six chicken thighs instead of eight and it made enough for a family of four inc. two young children, with enough for leftovers for lunch for two.
Tasty and Easy
I substituted the 300 ml of water for red wine as the first time I made it, it was a little bland, but with the red wine everyone loved it.
not as impressed this time.
Fortunately the first one of these mixes I tried was the beef and ale and was very impressed with the finished product. As a result I tried this one. Sadly I won't be purchasing again. I thought the sauce was very bland indeed. Not bad enough to throw the dish away. I still ate it but wouldn't say I really enjoyed it. Will be trying others in the range tho. In fact tomorrow it's the turn of the sausage and beans mix. Lets hope it's as tasty as the beef and ale.
