Severe allergic reaction

This toothpaste was recommended to us by a dentist. Within a week of using it my gums had swollen to twice their size, my inner lip lining was extremely painful, furry and dry, my lips has swollen and my mouth was full of ulcers. Eating was agony. Unfortunately it took a trip to both the dentist and doctor before I put 2 and 2 together. In the meantime, I ran out of this toothpaste, started using another brand and the sore mouth eventually cleared up. Still I didn't twig. I was due to have blood tests due to a possible mineral or vitamin deficiency. Then a few days ago, I started using this toothpaste again when the other tube ran out. Almost immediately the symptoms were back and I eventually realised the toothpaste was the cause. So I now have 4 tubes of toothpaste at £5 each which I'm going to have to throw out plus it will probably take weeks for the symptoms to subside. I've just checked the tube and seen that it contains sodium lauryl sulphate, which is well-known to cause sensitivity, so I'm wondering if that's the problem. I'm now scared to switch back to other Sensodyne products, even though I've been using them for years.

Feels like quality product.

Whilst I didnt dislike the taste it is different to other toothpastes I have used. Quite expensive.

Caused irritation

Experienced increasingly dry, chapped lips which developed into sores at the corners of my mouth, inflamed papillae at the top and edge of my tongue and peeling skin inside my lower mouth and cheeks. Was seriously concerned and no relief until I stopped using this toothpaste on the off chance this was causing the problems. Symptoms started to improve within 24 hours.

Good toothpaste

Tastes nice, thick texture, so a little goes a long way. Husband says it helps his sensitive teeth. Very expensive.

Good but expensive

Good toothpaste that does not aggregate my sensitive teeth. However I normally use another brand (green tube) which is cheaper per 100ml and not sure I've noticed a difference to make me want to switch to this one.
