Spontex Soap Pads are made with 85% recycled steel and filled with a 100% biodegradable soap* made with sustainably sourced oil that's free from animal ingredients and hazardous preservatives and is not tested on animals. As part of their commitment to switch to more sustainable packaging, Spontex no longer use a plastic punnet or non recyclable foil lid on this product. They've moved to a 100% recyclable cardboard box that's FSC certified and contains at least 75% recycled content. They are using 1,440kg less plastic and 160kg less foil for every 100,000 packs and they can fit 30% more packs in a truck which means less trucks on the roads each year. This compact format also takes up less space at home and once opened the robust upright box is perfect for storing any unused pads.
Top Tip: Dampen the pad slightly to make it foam and rub over the surface to be cleaned. For tougher dirt, use it dry on a wet surface.

The pads do not have a use by or expiry date. Safety data sheets (COSHH) are not required. If you do get soap in your eyes then rinse carefully with water for several minutes. If when using the product your skin becomes irritated then discontinue use. Keep out of the reach of children.

Excellent for removing rust
I have used one of these soap pads for removing rust from an old and very rusty shower caddy which I thought would have have to be replaced, and it made this extremely difficult job far easier. After unscrewing the shower caddy and dousing it with bicarbonate of soda and white vinegar, I scrubbed it with the soap pad and the rust lifted off with little trouble. My shower caddy is now as good as new. The only reason I have deducted a star is because, after some scrubbing, the soap pad started to shed small fragments of metal and the soap irritated my hands. I would therefore recommend wearing plastic gloves.
Where are Brillo pads.
These are a poor imitation of Brillos. So surprised coming from Spontex.

Not great
I prefer brillo pads, and now buy them from another source, I gave these a go but not for me, not as thick and strong as brillo pads and leave a residue.
Vile Chemical Smell
Poisonous smelling residue that coats everything and lingers long after use. Don't want these vile things anywhere near a kitchen
what is that god awful smell?
These reek and not in a good way. Bring back Brillo pads. These are awful and wear out straight away. I did one pot with them and its knackered. The smell was making me retch and not from the burned rice that my daughter managed to cremate. Im binning the lot. Worst product ever.
