High quality but expensive
This high grade Manuka honey is less sweet and slightly less grainy than the lower MGO 514 and MGO 263 from Steens which is conveniently stocked at Ocado. (It is very thick and has a concentrated medicinal taste). One can genuinely taste the difference in quality between the different MGOs. If the importance of raw and unpasteurised Manuka honey is on the top of ones requirement for health reasons then look no further than Steens. A genuine high quality product. However, it is possible to find cheaper pasteurised Manuka honey with the same high MGO 829 elsewhere online. Overall, this honey is of high quality but it is extremely hard to justify such an expense on a small pot of honey, even when on offer.
Seems to work
Neither my partner nor I got rid of a sore throat so quickly as we did while taking this honey. Whether it's a price-induced placebo or the honey actually helped, I don't care. For us, it works. We take it raw and in small doses. When we want honey to mix in foods or drinks, we take something more ordinary, from a different brand.
I don\x27t get it
I received this free from Ocado to review. I should have probably looked up with this is so expensive and what the benefits are meant to be. For me, it's just honey. I put it in my porridge.
Lovely honey but expensive
I am a regular buyer of manuka honey that my husband and I take for it’s health benefits. This was a lovely honey but very expensive for the size of jar. Would buy again if on offer.
Lovely honey but far too expensive
I have said I would not recommend it to a friend but that is not to detract from its quality, but simply because I don't know anyone who would pay this much for a jar of honey (at least I don't think I do). I was sent it free to review by Ocado but I didn't appreciate the price until I came to write the review - I had been merrily spreading it on wholegrain crumpets (with butter - it was yummy) and I used some in a cocktail which was also good. It is rich and moreish and the jar is easy to open, if a little underwhelming from a design perspective, at that price point. I certainly enjoyed it and will use what is left of it very carefully now that I know its cost!
Very tasty (but expensive)
Tastes amazing. Expensive though, so good that a small amount goes a long way.
