The Lions Kingdom is a company founded by former international athletes on a mission to bring more ethical, nutritionally superior eating experiences to the UK market. This is why all of our products have best in class supply chains from a welfare perspective but are almost always higher in protein and lower in fat than traditional meat products. We can trace every packet of Ostrich we supply back to the farm and have since we launched our business saved the UK consumer millions of grams of fat and calories.
The Ostrich Burgers we work with are pre grilled. We do this for the very important reason that Ostrich isn't like ordinary meat given it is so low in fat. As such supplying a raw burger would be very difficult to do because unlike venison burgers we don't want to add in fat to help bind the burger together. So we carefully pre-grill through a unique cooking process which means we can offer you a burger with only 186 Calories and 3g Saturated Fat per serving! It also means that you can very easily whip up our Ostrich burgers on the go and have them in buns in less than 5 minutes!
We are very conscious that while we have done our best to advise on cooking instructions, everyone's ovens, grills and frying pans operate at varying temperatures. As such, if in doubt, make sure you cook on a lower heat than ordinary burgers. Given the low fat levels the worst thing you can do is overcook these burgers. So better to go low and slow in any doubt and cook until piping through the middle. If you overcook them the burger can become dry and begin to flake.
We can also proudly report that we donate 2p from every packet we sell to the charity Lion Landscapes who specialise in protecting wild lion populations across Africa. Lion populations are plummeting and we have no desire to let this world become a place where the planet's most magnificent predator can only be seen in a zoo behind bars.
Finally, if there is any reason you are unhappy with your purchase, please contact us at www.thelionskingdom.co.uk . We will arrange for a refund. However, if you happen to love our products please leave us a 5* review and let us know you have done. After all, for consumers that love our products and might answer a question or two then there is free Ostrich available to them!!

Soft and moist but a bit gristly
The meat was very moist and soft, but a bit gristly. The texture reminded me of a fatty meatball - very nice if unexpected for a burger. I forgot to season it myself and it was slightly sweet if anything. We just ate it plain, but it would be better as a sandwich with the soft texture. Next time I'll be adding caramelized onions and a strong cheese.
Very, very good
These are very, very good. Rather than grill as recommended, I opted to fry. Being very lean meat, they took no time at all to cook - don't exceed the suggested times. the result was a wonderfully moist and flavoursome burger. Looking forward to trying more of the range.
Not as good as the past
The burgers are very tasty and having ostrich makes a bit of a change, but the texture and consistency could be better as they break apart
Only burger I buy
Usually I only make burger out of mince meat, but these ostrich steak burger are just too good to miss out - I made them rare on a clean and hot frying pan, and served in a St Pierre seeded bun with a slice of goat cheese and 1/2 tsp of beetroot ketchup and a side of tenderstem broccoli. Did not use any oil or spice, it's just good as it is (similarly, the fillet steak btw).
delicious
Really moist tasty burgers. Only needed very brief grilling. Would buy again.
Really good
For those who have heart desease these are really good - low in fat and sugar and tasty. You do have to mind the occasional bone bits but ay last I can have a burger in a bun!
