£1.36 per 100gProduct information
Rendang is a national treasure normally served at special occasions as it takes hours to cook and create those characteristic deep, rich layers of flavours. Our rendang is so moreish; it is richly flavoured with spices, roasted coconut, browned shallots and balanced with tamarind.
Spice Routes
A cuisine is a complex tapestry of people, geography and history. Early travellers indelibly influenced south East Asian food with their introduction of spices, chillies and curries. New dishes were created and old ones evolved to give us a whole new spectrum of delicious spiced favourites.
This pack contains a pouch of spices and aromatics, a smaller pouch with our spice paste and a larger one with a coconut sauce.

Preparation and Usage
Three Simple Steps
Sometimes the coconut sauce separates, do not let this worry you!
1. Heat 1 tsp oil in a pan for 20 seconds (take care not to overheat). Fry the spices (use the chilli from spice pouch for extra heat)
2. Add your fresh ingredients and stir fry for 3-4 minutes, add the paste and cook for another minute
3. Stir in the coconut sauce and cook until the sauce has reduced and clings a little to your ingredients for a semi dry curry

delicious
We are working our way through the spice tailor range and this is one of our favourites so far! Also reccomend the Chetinad Curry kit!
nice
This curry is nice but its not wow I didnt think the flavour was powerful enough.
Absolutely FIVE STAR
I followed the slow cook instructions, using chuck steak from my local butcher, cooking for about 2 hours. Softened a finely sliced onion with the spices, and added some slightly soft cherry tomatoes about 15 mins before the end, although it would have been substantial enough without the onions and toms. Toasted some desiccated coconut in a hot pan, and served the lot with jasmine rice. I left out the extra red chilli, which was the right decision for me, because it was just gently spicy. Delicious!
Amazing if you go off piste
This is perfect as a base for an authentic dish. Rather than the 10minute suggested recipe, I went with all the steps on the hob and slow cooking in the oven at 140c fan, covered for the first hour then uncovered and stirring ever 20mins until the sauce was mostly gone. Was amazing. Also added shallots, peppers and a chilli at the start and mushrooms after an hour. Better than the very good local takeaway
Very tasty
I find some of the Spice Tailor kits a bit too salty, but this one is lovely. You can taste the spices and it's a lovely medium level of heat.
Excellent
Excellent product! As for all Spice Tailor products, Indonesian Rendag is very tasty and full of flavour. I cooked it with Quorn pieces and vegetables, followed the very simple instructions and the result was fabulous! Would recommend.
