A fantastic base for a bean chilli

A nice staple to keep in the cupboard to bulk out a bean chilli.

unlike others we enjoy the flavour

Unlike most others, I had no free sample to review. We are vegan for the planet and our health. This is sufficient for the main protein part for 2 adults with some vegetables on the side. My husband and I enjoy the taste and buy again, as quick and easy so good for a busy night after working as doctors.

Strange flavour

I adore turtle beans and anything smoky, but this was bland and the overall flavour was sweet and somehow artificially floral. I would prefer to buy the beans on their own and add some Chipotle sauce.

Needs more flavour

I received this free from Ocado to review. I ended up adding more spice to pep up the flavour. The beans are fine but disliked the soya. Very convenient to use but probably won't be buying.

Convenient, if a little bland

I’m reviewing this product because I got a free sample from Ocado. I expected so much more of this, probably unfairly as it's described as 'a delicious combination of Mixed Beans & soya in a mildly-spiced sauce with warming smoky notes'. It was very mild and I really didn't pick up any noticeable Brazilian flavour. In the end, I mixed it with some heavily seasoned rice with pork which really made a difference and was very nice. It is high in protein, which is great, and handy to have in the cupboard, but I don't think I would use it on its own. Others have suggested use in fajitas, which I guess would work. The soya protein pieces did add a nice texture. Useful for a quick, easy meal if you spice it up a bit but not sure I would buy and I wouldn't consider the flavour very Brazilian, plus I do like my food to have a bit of flavour and be more authentic tasting. Nice enough and high in protein but nothing special.

The Problem with Yeast Extract

I received these to try and review and am not overly impressed. Found the taste rather bland in spite of the yeast extract which is just MSG under another name and is now in everything. The pack is handy for a quick meal and the protein content is good hence 2 stars.
