Date bark is easy to make and delicious to devour. The perfect on-the-go snack to satisfy your sweet tooth. The best part? You can add whatever you like to it, popcorn, peanuts or even freeze-dried fruits. P.S some say if you close your eyes it’s like eating a snickers bar. Looking for more chocolate recipes? Ingredients

  • 150g dark chocolate chunks
  • 2 x 180g boxes dates, pitted
  • 4 tbsp crunchy peanut butter
  • 25g pistachios
  • ¼ tsp flakey sea salt

Method

Step 1

Melt the chocolate chunks into a heatproof bowl set over a pan of barely simmering water, making sure the water doesn’t touch the base of the bowl. Set aside to cool slightly.

Step 2

Meanwhile, line a baking sheet with non-stick baking paper. Spread the pitted dates in a single layer over the paper and press down with the tines of a fork to flatten and compact them together to about ½ cm thick sheet.

Step 3

Dot over the peanut butter, spread to an even layer then pour over the slightly cooled chocolate and spread to fully cover.

Step 4

Using a pestle and mortar, bash the pistachios into a crumb and sprinkle over the chocolate then freeze for 1 hr.

Step 5

Sprinkle with flakey sea salt then break up or chop to serve.
